Is being a life coach difficult? Can we actually earn from it? Are there lots of classes to take… or credit to earn or degrees needed to become a highly paid, professional life coach? What IS required to parlay my personal PASSION and purpose into perpetual piles of profit?
The Truth?
Life coaching does NOT require credits, degrees or diplomas. You don’t need to go to school, or have a fancy plaque hanging on your wall to be a very successful, very well respected and enormously admired coach, consultant or expert advisor in your community.
What DO you need?
A passion. A sense of PURPOSE. A desire to contribute, to serve and to educate people in your area of expertise. There is NO class, no course and no credit for having a genuine desire to help people.
The BIGGEST mistake I see far too many people make when trying to build their own practice is focusing on the “accreditation” areas……. rather than learning how to market themselves properly.
In my view?
Learning what people REALLY want in a niche is far more important, and valuable than having a fancy coaching course accredited next to your name.
As a matter of fact, most of the HUGELY successful coaches I know have NOT gotten “certified”, but rather…..have mastered the art and science of marketing themselves to the masses that desperately need, crave and desire the specific services they have to offer.
The BEST way to become a life coach?
Build a blog. Start a list of 10, 20 or even 30 popular blogs and social communities in the specific coaching niche you want to practice in. Get active…..get social and start contributing. Build a direct response list of subscribers…..and create a newsletter. Update it often. Make LOTS of offers…and don’t be shy. (as a matter of fact…the BOLDER you become, the more money you’re going to make)
Create copious amounts of content…and share your best thoughts, ideas and information freely and generously. Lastly….work on building a community of raving and evangelical fans, readers and clients who appreciate and admire your efforts…you’ll be AMAZED at how big you can (and WILL) grow once you do!
